Job Description:
- Prepare soil; seeds and cuttings; and transplant seedlings and rooted cuttings as per requirements
- Spray tree seedlings to prevent disease and pests if required
- Position irrigation systems to water nurseries and fields
- Dig, cut and transplant trees, shrubs, and prepare them for sale
- Provide information to customers on the care of trees and shrubs
- May operate tractors and other machinery and equipment to cultivate fields, harvest genetic material and trees seedlings
- Maintain inventory and order materials as required
- Clean working areas
- Minimum of 32 hours a week
- Other duties as required
Job Requirements:
- Technician or Bachelor's degree in the field
- Able to work in a multicultural team
- Able to fill out production work charts, learn to identify tree and other plant varieties by leaf morphology and even by stem characteristics when dormant.
- Carry out some clerical, administrative and management assisting.
- Perform construction and remodeling activities outside of the intense field season and during very inclement weather i.e.: when it's plus 35 degrees or minus 30 degrees or lower outdoors.
- Excellent health
- Be able to lift 40 pounds repetitively
- Willing to train
- Produce soil amendments, and seedling protection from recycled materials
